My Story
Thank you for stopping by. Here is a bit about me, Ian:
I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania just north of Philadelphia. As I tell people all the time, “it was a nice place to come from.” From there I left for college in an even smaller town called Richmond, IN. A tiny liberal arts college called Earlham College was nestled inside this former industrial midwest town. From there, I lived in Boston, Virginia, Washington DC, and finally settled in Denver. I have two lovely children, and a brilliant, hard-working wife. All of whom I prefer to spend most of my time.
Like so many in the industry, I started at an early age. I washed dishes in a seedy bar when I was far too young to be exposed to such “real-life” experiences. From there I put myself through high school and college while working in the hospitality industry. Years of service led me to years of management, a deep desire to serve, and an understanding of what that truly means. When I started managing multiple locations for a few restaurant groups, I realized that consistency of management and messaging was not common in the hospitality business.
I have had the pleasure of working in nearly all aspects of the hospitality industry, but my passion lies with staff development. Often, we miss the signs from our staff that they want more from us. More freedom, more responsibility, and obviously more money. It has been said many times, but deserves reiterating: business owners need to put their employees first, so the employees will put the guests first. I love finding the thing that motivates each and every person in the team, and allowing them to follow that passion and motivation to its end.
I have worked for private restaurants, multi-unit concepts, celebrity chefs, James Beard(™) award winners, and Michelin Star recipients. The thing that all of them have in common is that passion. The drive to be better than the day before, stronger than the previous location, and always moving forward. I have the knowledge, experience, and motivation to get your business to the next desired level. I know I can make a huge difference in the culture, profitability, and future of your business, however that looks for you.
